Flower City Habitat Young Professionals (HYPs) are a group within Flower City Habitat for Humanity (FCHH) which is the Rochester affiliate of the nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing ministry of Habitat for Humanity International. We work locally and globally to eliminate poverty housing through the creation of decent, affordable homes in partnership with families, volunteers and donors.

As HYPs we assist the organization by advocating and educating about what Habitat does for our Rochester community. We help raise awareness and funds to sponsor home building and neighborhood revitalization in the City of Rochester. We rely on the support of thousands of volunteers, faith-based communities, and businesses located throughout Monroe County.

FCHH and HYP invite people of all backgrounds, races and religions to build houses together in partnership with families in need. Working with the City of Rochester, we target the most desperate neighborhoods and are currently working in Rochester’s Crescent of Poverty in the JOSANA neighborhood.

Habitat creates strong neighborhoods in which new homeowners are all stakeholders. A cluster of strong families working together, builds neighborhoods in which the sight of children at play replaces drug dealing and other crime. Home ownership creates hope, stability and a better quality of life; and Habitat remains part of their lives, with support for families if it is ever needed.

HYPs bring FCHH’s work in Rochester to the forefront of up-and-coming leaders in our community.
